UNFORGOTTEN

By Daniel Turner

In memory of Serno Augustin

10th February 2007

It’s a distortion upon my emotions to know

That an orphan, such as Serno, suffered many incarcerations.

Just because the judge didn’t know where to place him,

Being without parents, made it hard getting clearance

On the path to education

But HE was DETERMINED and MOTIVATED

So he did it, and that’s what matters

But now it’s SHATTERED –

An officer BLASTED him

Without asking him if he was responsible

And just over suspicion – no proof!

I’m wishing I could change time and recreate that event,

‘Cause it’s SICKENING

and making a dent on the reputation of the police department!

I hope they regret it;

It’s giving me a headache,

Knowing someone my own age

Was killed like an animal

And left to bleed without sympathy.

It instantly makes you want to justify the situation

But if we can’t do that

Then we can at least learn to help those in need

And expose the GRIEF and GREED of the system,

Which destroys us youngsters,

Who chose to be something of use in this community.

All I think of is what’s happening because of the loss of a friend;

At least there is a fundraiser being organized to raise money for those struggling.

To those who did this TRAGIC crime . . .

You are supposed to CLOSE the path to death, not OPEN it!

I’m hoping it grants us the morals

To dance with our sorrows

And work harder for a chance with tomorrow

And remember those who never could SWALLOW the pleasure we digested --

Those who were DISADVANTAGED.

As I plant this seed of AWARENESS,

It’s up to us to change –

The way we IGNORE the poor and lie to be what we desire to be,

Forgetting about those like Serno,

Who are all alone and just try to SURVIVE the obstacles,

And realize the importance of striving for pure UNCORRUPTED success,

But by a hypocrite has been degraded to much less.

Police doing their job in INEFFICENT means ---

Put away the VIOLENCE, stop KILLING teens

Youths out there – I know it’s exhausting, but proceed with caution . . .

Augustin’s gone, BUT UNFORGOTTEN!
